Help us run or walk ‘Around the World’ in 30 Days – wherever and whenever you can!

Together, we want to walk, run, wheel or cycle 'Around the World' – that’s 40,075km - to raise money to save endangered wildlife, before the end of June.

How much you do is up to you! Just set your distance target, ask your friends and family to sponsor you and then run, walk, wheel or cycle, anywhere, anytime, through the month of June for endangered animals.

Everyone who raises £100 or more will receive a ZSL medal as a thank you for supporting wildlife.

From cheetahs in Africa to hazel dormice in Britain, species across the world are in danger of going extinct, unless we act now. The good news is that ZSL's work is helping vulnerable wildlife recover all over the globe and by taking part in this challenge, you will help us to continue this worldwide conservation work.

Clock your distance on our global tracker and see how, together, we make progress around the world. Along the way we'll unlock amazing heart-warming stories of how conservation is making a difference in some of the world's most important habitats.

Let’s take strides to end extinction

Taking part in Around the World in 30 Days is simple!
1. Choose your goals

Sign up and set your targets. Choose your distance and fundraising goals. We recommend aiming for £150 as a starting point.

2. Roar loud and proud

Ask your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to support you. Share your fundraiser on social media, WhatsApp and email so they can sponsor you to reach your target and track your progress. Don’t forget to tag us with @officialZSL and #AroundtheWorld.

3. Make tracks for wildlife

From 1-30 June, walk, run, wheel or cycle for wildlife, whenever and wherever you like. Track your distance travelled on the free Strava app or through our manual tracking on your fundraising page.

Our Goal, Your Challenge

While our shared goal is covering 40,075 in 30 days, how you achieve your distance is entirely up to you. You can run, walk, cycle or wheel in any location you like. You can do it all in one day or cover smaller distances on a daily basis.

This challenge is for everyone, whether you’re taking daily walks as a family or looking to step out of your comfort zone and start long distance running. Set a goal that will challenge and excite you. If you’re stuck for ideas, why not take inspiration from the animal kingdom?

2km a day for hedgehogs in the UK

Hedgehogs roam an average distance of 2km on a single night. Show your support for hedgehogs by walking 2km a day, or 60km in total during June.

Hedgehogs in the UK have experienced a dramatic decline over the last 20 years. ZSL is working to halt this decline, by identifying hedgehog populations, investigating the key threats hedgehogs face and supporting conservation management strategies for their protection.

5km a day for elephants in Africa

Elephants need to eat up to 150kg of food a day and have around 150,000 muscles in their trunks! Walk 150km in June, or 5km a day, to show your support for African elephants.

African elephants face serious threats, causing their numbers to fall rapidly in many parts of Africa. Conflict with people, heavy targeting by poachers and loss and fragmentation of habitat are significant issues for the survival of this species. ZSL is working to address these threats by training park management teams and eco-guards, providing technical support to implement ‘PoacherCams’ and helping to improve law enforcement against poaching.

10km a day for tigers in Nepal

Wild tigers often have to travel over 10km a night to find food. Walk or run 10km a day, or 300km in total during June, to show your support for tigers.

There are just 2,500 wild Bengal tigers left globally; most in India, and around 235 in Nepal. ZSL is working to protect tigers in the Terai Arc Landscape: a narrow strip of plains, forest and lowland hills, linking Nepal and northern India. Here we are protecting core tiger breeding areas and working with communities to combat poaching.
